When beginning this quiz I classified myself as a mild conservative with many of my own opinions on issues that usually do not match exactly with any candidate. This showed through when the results stated that I am a Right Authoritarian, but not by much. I scored a .5 on the economic scale and a 2.51 on the social scale. This reaffirms my political self image and makes me think that this is a decently accurate test. I had not thought through the difference in economic and social standings which I attribute to politics’ efforts to segregate people to one side or the other. This quiz has showed me that politics are not black and white, left or right, republican or democrat. Politics are multidimensional and shouldn’t be limited to a fifty fifty decision at the polls. In the 2008 elections I did vote straight ticket simply because I had researched the issues and candidates and knew that most of them matched what the Republican Party was promising. However, in future elections I will strive to delve into each position and the candidates for those in order to better choose my elected leaders.

I always have thought of myself as a Republican but these results really are not that surprising to me. I would say that I am a much more liberal Republican so me scoring slightly into the Democrat section is probably about right.

I find myself being extremely conservative so these findings I found to be surprising. I had trouble understanding some of the graphs but I disagree w/ the results I was given and do not think it is accurate of my views.

The quiz i found very interesting from its wide range of questions that I have not asked myself or thought of in quiet a long time. In the Political Compass Test i scored an Economic -3.62 and a Social Libertarian/Authoritarian -.67, close to Gandhi but not quiet. This test seemed to me fairly accurate about my over all views of life and American society. Though I will have to remember to keep taking the quiz every year or soo to keep track of my changes that I myself make personally, I think that would be interesting to chart my changes throughout the years. My only wish is that my views become more worldly so I can grow and mature to leave examples and better opportunities for my children.

Before i took the quiz, I would of classified myself as being on the fence leaning towards conservative. After completing the quiz, it showed me to be economic left, right: -1.25
social libertarian, authoritarian: -.77, which this really is dead close to center. It did have me more on the left than i would of thought. In fact I thought that I would have been on the right. Also after taking this test, I have come to find that there really is more issues than most people would think about. I really think that this country is becoming less party related and more issue based as we move more into the future. I can truly say that this is not our grandparents society anymore just buy how the political system has changed. I would not go as far as to say this test is not accurate for it may be, I just feel its good at making people think.

This essential puts me somewhere between Margaret Thatcher and Milton Freidman. I believe in Personal responsibility, so I can understand how that pushes me towards the libertarian end of the spectrum, although I am squarely in the middle of the spectrum n that respect. On the other axis, I am about as far right as possible, and this does not surprise me at all. Free market economics and less government intervention in the economy is one of my core beliefs. I believe strongly the market is better at determining outcomes than government. The government that is smallest is the most efficient, and its main responsibility is the protection of the people from outside threat. Government overreach into the economy and private lives is a problem that has been expanding with the ever expanding size of the government. Although I question the positioning of some famous political figures on their chart, I believe mine is fairly accurate.

Entering college I considered myself moderate to conservative on social issues. In my first history course we answered the same ideology questions and my results came out very conservative. My ideology was close to President Bush’s ideology when I was a freshman at Tech. Now my ideology results suggest that I am more to the left and almost share the same ideology as Ghandi… what has happened in the past 4 years? I still considered myself a conservative republican who focuses on smaller government and keeping our rights to the letter of the law.

I thought the test was right. Before taking the test I always thought of myself as a moderate and the results of this test proved it. I showed that I was smack dab in the middle. There are a few things that I didn't agree on was that there were some words that I didn't understand and had to look up so me not understanding some words might of changed the way I would answer a question. I also thing they could of asked some questions in a different way then they did. But the results come back the same way my political stance has been and that's Moderate and I thought that was really interesting.

I wasn’t very surprised when I found out my results. I have always considered myself as someone right in the middle. I honestly thought this test would be totally wrong, but from the results I believe it was pretty accurate when it comes to my beliefs. I am more to the right when it comes to economic issues, but to the left when it comes to social issues. The results showed exactly what I thought. I believe that everyone has equal rights and can make their own decisions when it comes to social circumstances. Economically though, I believe those who have worked hard in life for their fortunes should be able to receive the benefits. Everyone has an opportunity to succeed in life and its all about the choices they make to where they will end up in their future.

The results showed that I was a Left Authoritarian. I am closer to the middle, and I expected that. I have always been in the middle on different issues. I can see the positives and the negatives and agree with them. Before this quiz, I considered myself to be a Republican, but with a little lean towards the Democrats. The results confirmed what I have always thought my ideologies were, but I don't think it will change anything for me. I will always think like a Republican that is willing to hear both sides to an issue.

From what I've been told, I myself like to believe that I'm a Moderate-Moderate, and from the results of this test it seems to be true. My political views, in my opinion, are very strange, by which I mean I truly don't have a chosen side for politics. I agree with both parties on what their views are. Other than that, I agree with the results shown from this test.

My results were not very reflective of my political views. I had an economic left/right score of 1.00 and a social libertarian/authoritarian score of .46. According to my results I am about as close to the middle as a person can get. Personally, I think this quiz is not an accurate representation of peoples political ideals. The questions are terribly leading, and I do not trust it's results. It was interesting, but I don't think it is very credible.

My political compass score is:

Economic Left/Right: -2.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.15

I was a little surprised with my economic score because I have always had a tendency to agree with Milton Friedman's economical views. So to see that it's a little off, is a little surprising when it comes to politics.
However, I am not shocked that my political views are somewhat close or similar to Ghandi. I do have strong beliefs in more of a selected government and the quality of humanity and individual in government.
When it is said and done, this quiz offered a lot of questions that tested a lot of dimensions in politics. I do feel that the answer choices are more complicated than what was given. When it is all said and done, this quiz was interesting and I see where my views fit in.

Economic: .5
Social: 0

This indicates that I am very VERY close to an absolute moderate. This in itself is not really surprising to me, but what I was surprised by was that my social was completely centralized. I have always considered myself to be more conservative socially, but apparently I fall right in the middle. Despite the difference in my expectation and my reality, these results do not surprise me.

Positively Moderate.

I think it’s about right. At first I thought it would have put me much deeper into the libertarian side of the graph, but now that I’ve taken it and thought about some of the questions I think it placed me about where it should have put me. Some of the questions seemed very silly and a question about protectionism I wasn’t sure I understood. I think several of the questions were leading. For example, when it says, ”It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society,” it seems leading to me to get a certain response. I’m not sure how a questionnaire like that is supposed to function when the questions seem leading; however, it seemed to place me in a fairly accurate area of the graph so I guess I can’t argue with the results. I agree with the assessment. I found the question of astrology to be rather surprising and bazaar. What does astrology have to do with political alignment?

I would say that this is pretty accurate. I often lean to the left on economic and social issues, but I still lean right on some issues. I am not that surprised by my results.

After taking this quiz, I am not surprised at my results at all. My Economic (left/right) score was: 0.88 and my Social (Libertarian/Authoritarian) score was a 4.87; so I was in the Authoritarian Right quadrant. I have always considered myself a very big Republican, so my results coincided with my preliminaries. My ranking shows I am higher up on the social scale and somewhat on the middle of the economic scale. I tend to agree with the traditional theory of politics. After looking at the US Primaries of 2008, most of the candidates ran in the upper right quadrant, which is what I was in, which also shows that a large percentage must be in the same quadrant. I agree with the test results/quiz and the only thing i was a little skeptical about was the format of the questioning; I was not sure about some of the meaning behind the questions. The only thing that irritates me about being an “Authoritarian Right Wing” is that it has a negative stereotype, but it is what I am and that is the way I was raised. I do not necessarily agree or disagree, but I feel as if the questions are circumstantial instead of knowing for a fact that the questions are one-hundred percent legit. Nonetheless, I think that this quiz is an interesting way of determining an individuals political view.

Economic Left/Right: 2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 1.08

This isn't surprising to me at all as I have always felt that I am pretty moderate with a slightly stronger conservative side. This assessment confirms that I am open to both sides but I lean to the right more than the left.
I do agree with the assessments results but I feel that there should be an answer choice that is in the middle instead of forcing someone to be on one side or the other. If there were such an option, my results would probably be more in the middle.

Before taking this quiz i classified myself as a conservative. After taking the test I was a conservative but was more mild than i expected. In the test some of the questions were neither agree or disagree, so i feel that the results could of been changed moderately. After taking the test I was to the right still just as i expected. I scored a .75 on the economic scale and a 1.08 on the social scale. Throughout the test their were many issues that I had not really thought about so it kind of caught me off guard. As I stated earlier i think that the test is fairly accurate but the score could me manipulated on a variety of factors. I also believe that a person cannot take one side 100 percent, i feel that their are issues that we look at on a grand scale that keeps a person form being a republican or a democrat, or liberal and conservative. I also see that now after the test and talking in class why straight ticket voting may not be a good choice all the time because we all have different views. You may think that you are 100 percent republican but when it comes down to it their is going to be someone on the ballot that has an issue you don't agree with.

Before the quiz was began I have always tried to keep an open mind but considered myself mostly to the right. I tried to drop my parents political views and create my own, and as such found that they are still similar. After tne quiz i wasnt very suprised because it was pretty close to where i considered myself to be a little bit to the right. Some of the questions that i believe contributed to this result were my standpoints on humanity. I feel as though trying to keep an open mind keeps me a little bit more towards the center than most. However, i feel the quiz would be more accurate if it gave you the choice to put you in the not sure category. This is because i felt as though some of the questions were formed in a bias way that couldnt be answered yes or no. With that being said it was pretty close to my views and where i put myself.

As I read about the compass and finally grasped what each quadrant meant, I was taken to want to consider myself a middle of the road socialist and a middle of the road in economics. However, after viewing the questions and taking the assessment, I quickly realized where some of the questions were trying to put me. Although I feel a certain way about a specific, I do not believe that that necessarily defines the entire making of the views on social issues as well as on the economic spectrum. I feel as though many of these particular questions were more motivated by one particular instance in m life and therefore, that one specific question was determined by that factor and not my overall sentiments toward overall social and economic issues. For instance, I do agree that I am a essentially a middle socialist. However, when it comes to the economic scale, I do believe that I should be way more to the right than how far left I am. I do not believe in a freer market. I believe strongly in many regulations and government sanctions on corporations. I believe that corporations are necessary for the growth of a nation and defining it a power in the global spectrum. On the same hand, I believe that the economic power lies in the middle class, but I do realize that without corporations, we would not be able to build our middle class; all this being considered, is why I believe that I am more of a middle of the road economist.

Before taking this quiz I always classified myself as a conservative. I was actually quite surprised after receiving the results to this quiz, because my results showed that my conservative beliefs were a lot more mild than I had believed before. I scored a .75 on the economic scale and a 1.08 on the social scale. I was still to the right, just as expected...but I think this quiz opened my eyes to questions I hadn't really ever been asked before. When these questions came up I didn't know whether to agree or disagree because they were issues I wasn't really knowledgable on. Other than those questions I feel like this is a good quiz. I think this shows that straight tickets aren't necesarilly the way to go because everyones beliefs can kind of differ depending on the issue at hand. Some issues I agree with republicans but then there are a couple issues that I probably lean more to the left on. I think this is good because it makes you think about each issue seperately rather than just having to be classified as a republican, democrat, or moderate.
